Borden Says Dean Merger Isn’t ‘Practical’ on Antitrust Concerns

Borden Dairy Co. doesn’t see a merger with Dean Foods Co. as a practical consideration due to antitrust concerns, CEO Tony Sarsam said in a phone interview.

  • Borden said in a statement Thursday that it told Dean Foods it doesn’t intend to pursue a transaction and it anticipates no further discussions
  • Dean Foods told Borden at a 30-minute meeting that it wants to have a conversation, to make sure that it’s looking at all the possibilities: Sarsam
  • CEO said Borden has “a court supervised mediation” set for next Tuesday
    • “We are meeting with our creditors, as well as equity partners”...
