Agribusinesses Want Puerto Rico Out of Chicken Conspiracy Case

Tyson Foods Inc. and the country’s other top chicken producers say Puerto Rico is uniquely unsuited to participate in a Northern District of Illinois lawsuit claiming they propped up prices by culling flocks.

The multidistrict antitrust suit targets nearly 30 major agribusinesses, including affiliates of Case Foods Inc., Koch Foods Inc., Mountaire Farms Inc., Perdue Farms Inc., Pilgrim’s Pride Corp., and Sanderson Farms Inc. It also names as a defendant Agri Stats Inc., which runs an industry pricing database.
