An express delivery company agreed to pay $597,000 to its employees to settle allegations it misclassified its delivery drivers as contractors and underpaid them as a result.
LaserShip Inc. of Vienna, Va., violated minimum wage, overtime, and record-keeping provisions of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act at its facilities in Meriden, Conn., and East Brunswick, N.J., according to a Labor Department investigation. The violations occurred from March 2014 to July 2017 at the Connecticut facility and from April 2016 to August 2017 in New Jersey, the DOL said in a June 26 statement.
