U.S. Supreme Court Turns Down Superfund Deadline Dispute

The U.S. Supreme Court decided not to review a Superfund case looking at whether previous settlements trigger a countdown for filing contribution claims, it announced Monday.

Halliburton Affiliates LLC and more than a dozen other companies claimed a 2014 contribution request from a group involved with the Omega Chemical Corp. Superfund cleanup wasn’t filed within the applicable statute of limitations. They asked the court to review their case in connection with the similar Guam v. United States petition granted in January.
