Small Business Health Plans Get Lawmaker Lifeline After Court Loss (1)

Thousands of people covered by small business health insurance options that a federal judge said violate the Affordable Care Act would get protection under new bills in each house.

The legislation, sponsored by Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.) and Rep. Tim Walberg (R-Mich.), would safeguard President Donald Trump’s expansion of association health plans by enshrining them into federal law. A federal judge found the administration’s creation of the plans violated federal rulemaking requirements. An act of Congress wouldn’t have that problem.
