A Texas father is seeking the broadest possible remedy after a federal judge agreed with him that parents have a right to know when their children seek birth control at taxpayer-funded facilities.
Judge Matthew J. Kacsmaryk of the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas should issue a “universal” remedy, setting aside a portion of a US Health and Human Services Department rule that forbids a Title X program’s staff from notifying parents or guardians whenever a minor has requested or received its services, plaintiff Alexander Deandra said in a brief Thursday.
