Planned Parenthood Sues Montana to Stop 20-Week Abortion Law (1)

Four new laws affecting abortion in Montana violate the state constitution and must be stopped from taking effect as scheduled on Oct. 1, Planned Parenthood of Montana said in a new lawsuit filed in state court Monday.

The laws impose a 20-week gestational age limit, burden medication abortion, add ultrasound requirements, and ban insurance payments for abortion, the complaint filed in the Montana District Court, Yellowstone County says.

The provisions are “are nothing more than poorly disguised attempts to chip away at Montanans’ access to safe and constitutional abortion,” providers PPMT and Joey Banks say.
