P&G, Consumers Want Early Nod for Benzene-In-Spray Class Deal

Procter & Gamble Co. consumers who allege the company failed to disclose benzene in aerosol products urged a federal court in Ohio to tentatively approve a class settlement providing up to $8 million for those without proof of purchase, and uncapped relief to those with receipts.

Litigation followed a November 2021 citizen petition by independent testing lab Valisure, asking the Food and Drug Administration to recall numerous spray antiperspirant and deodorant products found to contain elevated levels of benzene, a human carcinogen.
