Missouri Gestational Age Abortion Ban Blocked for Now

Missouri may not enforce new laws banning abortions after eight, 14, 18, and 20 weeks’ gestation during litigation over their validity, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri said Aug. 27.

The gestational age laws due to take effect Aug. 28 violate well-established U.S. Supreme Court precedent holding that a woman has a right to terminate a pregnancy before the fetus would be able to live outside the womb, the court said.
