Minority NYC Fire Inspectors Advance Class Pay Bias Lawsuit

A group of minority New York City fire protection inspectors and an AFSCME local can pursue claims that the city engages in intentional and disparate impact race discrimination by paying them substantially less as a class than similarly situated city building inspectors, a federal judge in Manhattan ruled.

But claims alleging that White FPIs are also paid less than city BIs were insufficiently detailed and must be dismissed, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York said Thursday.
