The long arc of U.S. civil rights history should allow a lawsuit over the June 1 clash between police and protesters at Lafayette Square to continue, a group of professors told a federal judge in Washington.

Black Lives Matter D.C. has accused law enforcement officials, including Attorney General William Barr, of using unlawful excessive force to clear a path to St. John’s Episcopal Church for President Donald Trump for a photo opportunity.
