A dispute between Kinross Gold Corp., Sunnyside Gold Corp., and the federal government will be on hold pending the finalization of a settlement reached over cleanup costs linked to the 2015 Gold King Mine spill, a New Mexico federal court ruled.
The settlement faces the scrutiny of officials at the Department of Justice, EPA, Interior Department, and Agriculture Department, the parties said in their joint motion for a stay of litigation. Once approved, the proposed consent decree will be filed, according to the motion filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico.
