Intermountain Faces Mother’s $350,000 Mental Health Billing Suit

Intermountain Healthcare Inc. and SelectHealth Inc. must face claims by the mother of a deceased health plan participant who sold her home to pay for $350,000 in mental health treatments that the insurers didn’t reimburse, a Utah federal judge ruled.

Linda Smith, whose daughter died by suicide while the case was pending, can move forward with claims under multiple provisions of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, Chief Judge Robert J.
