An Illinois man who lost his bid to unseat a district attorney in Coles County can’t proceed with his suit against his opponent and others, the Seventh Circuit said.
Todd Rearden Sr. failed to overcome state actor immunity and substantiate his claims that state officials violated his First and Fourteenth Amendment rights, The US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit said in a Friday opinion that affirmed a lower court ruling.
