Ikea Settles Age Discrimination Suits Brought by Older Workers

Ikea Holding US Inc. and Ikea US Retail LLC settled several lawsuits alleging the retail giant discriminated against older employees.

Five cases were dismissed with prejudice on Wednesday after the parties reached settlements, according to orders filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The lawsuits, filed between 2018 and 2023 by current and former Ikea workers, alleged the company had a practice of favoring younger workers over those older than 40 in promotion and termination decisions. Three were certified collective actions, encompassing dozens of plaintiffs across all cases.
