Ikea Owes $566,000 After Sanctions in Age Bias Class Lawsuit

Ikea Holdings US Inc. pay more than $566,000 in fees and expenses in an age bias class suit after it deleted email accounts of four former workers it had been ordered to preserve.

Judge Anita B. Brody of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania granted in part the plaintiffs’ fee request on Monday, reducing the amount to reflect the prevailing market rates of similar employment attorneys in the Philadelphia community and to properly award attorneys of similar skill and ability equal compensation without regard to gender or age.
