Dozens of pro bono legal services providers have filed a friend-of-the-court brief before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in support of Google’s $13 million cy pres-only Street View settlement.
The brief, filed Tuesday, argues that without cy pres awards—charitable distributions of residual class funds—legal services organizations will lack the resources to “meet the need for access to justice of the underprivileged and disadvantaged in our country.”
