The Federal Aviation Administration violated the law when it approved a license for a rocket launch site in Georgia based on the evaluation of a rocket that doesn’t exist, conservation groups and homeowners told a Washington federal court.
The lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the District of Columbia challenges a launch site operator license issued for Spaceport Camden in Camden County. The county needed to show a launch vehicle could be launched safely from the site. But the county used a rocket smaller than any in commercial operation solely to secure the license, the lawsuit says.
