Ex-Seyfarth Shaw Partner Seeks Nearly $200,000 in Retirement Pay

A former Seyfarth Shaw LLP partner sued the law firm in California federal court, claiming he’s been wrongly denied $194,750 in benefits under a decades-old, partners-only retirement plan that’s since been merged into the firm’s 401(k) plan.

Horace Green, who resigned from Seyfarth in 2000 after becoming an equity partner in 1992, says he applied for retirement benefits in 2021 after receiving a notice from the Social Security Administration. According to Green, the notice informed him that the Seyfarth Shaw LLP Retirement Plan for Partners—which was established in 1975 and merged into the company’s 401(k) plan in 2017—reported nearly $200,000 ...
