Confederate Flag License Plate Spurs Hostile Workplace Trial

A Black Connecticut Department of Corrections employee may be able to prove that the regular display of a Confederate flag license plate in a co-worker’s vehicle parked in the lot at her facility made her work environment racially hostile, a federal court in New Haven ruled.

According to Carla Moore, she walked by the vehicle 100 or more times as she entered and exited the department’s Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center, the court said. The plate was displayed in the rear window of the vehicle, which at times was parked in a way that made the plate “impossible to miss,” Moore said. ...
