Bard IVC Filter Instructions Adequately Warned of Blockage Risk

C.R. Bard Inc. and Bard Peripheral Vascular Inc. adequately warned that a blood-clot trapping filter could cause the kinds of blockage complications allegedly experienced by a Texas man, a federal court in the state said.

The companies are entitled to judgment on James Blackwell’s warning-related claims, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas said Wednesday. He also failed to show there was a safer alternative device, dooming design-related claims over the Denali IVC filter, the court said, dismissing the suit.
