Bard Defeats Man’s Appeal in Blood-Clot Filter Warning Case

C.R. Bard Inc. and Bard Peripheral Vascular Inc. defeated an appeal in a man’s suit alleging he was harmed by a blood-clot trapping filter that migrated from his vein, when the Fifth Circuit affirmed Wednesday that he failed to show the warnings associated with the device were inadequate.

Dennis Nelson received a Bard Recovery IVC Filter in 2005. An IVC filter is placed in the inferior vena cava, the largest vein of the body, to catch blood clots and prevent them from traveling from the legs to the heart or lungs.
