Apple Faces Certified Class Over Refurbished iPhones, iPads

Apple Inc. must face a certified class of consumers alleging replacement iPhones and iPads weren’t “equivalent to new,” the Northern District of California held Sept. 17.

The class includes all customers who bought Apple’s extended warranty plans, AppleCare and AppleCare+, since 2012, and received remanufactured replacement devices that contained some refurbished parts.

Apple’s records show that the class includes over 3 million warranty plans.
