A man who was sentenced to death for the murder of a police officer should get his conviction thrown out because his trial was tainted by antisemitic bias, a judge told the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

Judge Lela Lawrence Mays of the 283rd Judicial District Court in Dallas told the criminal appeals court that Randy Halprin’s trial Judge Vickers Cunningham harbored a racial and ethnic bias against Halprin because he’s Jewish, which violated his right to a fair trial.
