Abortion Providers Urge Court to Uphold Block on 20-Week Ban

Abortion providers in North Carolina didn’t have to show a credible threat of criminal prosecution before challenging the state’s ban on abortion after a fetus has reached 20 weeks’ gestation, the providers told the Fourth Circuit.

The argument came in a brief answering the state’s appeal from a federal district court decision holding unconstitutional a law that criminalizes abortions performed after 20 weeks except in very narrow circumstances.
