Virtual Reality Copyright Clearly Breached, Bitmanagement Says

German corporation Bitmanagement GmbH told the Federal Circuit it should be compensated for the U.S. Navy’s copying of virtual reality software onto hundreds of thousands of computers.

The Navy committed copyright infringement by breaching express contracts with Bitmanagement that granted the right to install BS Contact Geo software onto a “very limited” number of computers, Bitmanagement told the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit Thursday in its opening brief.

The lower court should have recognized that the contracts precluded the possibility of an implied license to copy the software onto every computer in the Navy’s network, Bitmanagement said....
