Valve Corp. computer games don’t infringe a patent related to the collection of data about users’ character choices, a Washington federal judge ruled.
The ruling Thursday from Judge Richard Jones in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington closes out a suit Treehouse Avatar LLC brought over Valve’s Ancients 2 and Team Fortress 2 games.
Treehouse filed the suit in Delaware in 2015. The case was sent to the district court in Valve’s home state following the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2017 ruling in TC Heartland v. Kraft Foods, which limited where patent suits can be brought. ...
