Upper Deck’s Michael Jordan Trading Card Rights Suit Trimmed

Upper Deck Co. had its trademark infringement claims over Michael Jordan trading cards against rival card maker Panini America Inc. trimmed, after the Southern District of California Tuesday found Upper Deck’s licensing agreement with Jordan doesn’t grant it a property interest in the trademarks.

Upper Deck asserts it is “the only trading card manufacturer that has ever had a license agreement for trading cards with Jordan,” according to the complaint.
