Upper Deck Co. dodged sanctions for alleged witness tampering in an antitrust suit over NHL trading cards, in a sealed decision issued by the Northern District of Texas.
Leaf Trading Cards sought the sanctions, alleging that Upper Deck compensated a potential nonparty trial witness for favorable testimony by settling that witness’s debt to Upper Deck in bankruptcy.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Rebecca Rutherford made the recommendation that the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas deny the motion. Both the motion and decision are sealed.
