Telegram Messenger Wins Injunction in Crypto Trademark Fight (1)

A cloud-based instant messaging company that plans to launch a cryptocurrency has won an order blocking a rival from using the name “Gram” for its own virtual currency.

The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ruled Aug. 8 that Telegram Messenger Inc. is likely to win its trademark infringement claim against Lantah LLC, which applied to register “Gram” with the Patent and Trademark Office.
