Sensata’s Schrader Owes $31M Over Tire-Pressure Monitoring: Jury

Sensata’s Schrader unit owes two closely held Swiss companies $31.2 million for infringing a patent for tire-pressure monitoring systems, or TPMS, a federal jury ruled.

  • Co-plaintiffs Wasica Finance and BlueArc Finance, which share ownership of the patent, filed the lawsuit in July 2013
  • Jury in Wilmington, Delaware, on Friday rejected Schrader’s argument that Wasica and BlueArc had exhausted their rights to enforce the patent against some Schrader products; under patent exhaustion, patent owners lose certain rights after a first authorized sale of a patented product
