Philips Bid to Block Imports of 3G, 4G IoT Devices to Be Probed

The U.S. International Trade Commission has launched an investigation into patent-infringement claims Royal Philips lodged in December against Thales, Telit and Quectel over cellular communications modules used in Internet-of-Things products.

  • Philips is seekinga ban on U.S. imports of any product with modules made by the three companies that comply with 3G and 4G communication standards
  • Philips said its Philips Sleep business developed hardware and software for monitoring systems that the other companies are using without permission
