Patent Office Pick, Fed. Cir. Nominee Slated for Senate Hearing

The Senate Judiciary Committee Wednesday will consider the nominations of Kathi Vidal to lead the patent office and Judge Leonard Stark to join the Federal Circuit, the nation’s top patent court.

Vidal, the attorney President Joe Biden picked to lead the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, will likely face questioning on discretionary denials and patent eligibility standards.

A patent litigator at Winston & Strawn LLP, Vidal would be the second woman to lead the agency if confirmed by the Senate.
