The New York City Fire Department was temporarily blocked from using the trademarked “Medical Special Operations Conference” title after a federal judge ruled that the original conference organizer was likely to succeed in a trademark fight against it.
The department’s continued use of the trademark would cause substantial confusion among potential attendees who want to earn certifications at a Medical Special Operations Conference event and would “irreperably” harm Juan Henriquez’s control over the conference’s reputation, US District Judge Kiyo Matsumoto of the Eastern District of New York found.
