Norton Cross of Columbia Damages Expert Draws Trial Judge’s Ire

The judge presiding over Columbia University’s trial with NortonLifeLock Inc. over patents for antivirus technology lashed into the company’s lawyers on Thursday, striking from the record their cross-examination of a Columbia expert, “all associated testimony,” and two demonstratives they showed jurors about apportionment and damages.

Judge M. Hannah Lauck called the documents “inaccurate, confusing to the jury, and highly prejudicial to Columbia” in an order Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
