Nine Energy Service Inc. owes rival NCS Multistage Inc. over $486,000 for infringing a patent covering a tool used in the drilling of oil and natural gas wells, a Western District of Texas jury decided.
Jurors in Waco, Texas, found Nine Energy’s BreakThru casing flotation device, a system used in well completion, infringed NCS’ U.S. Patent No. 10,465,445. The jury rejected arguments that claims in the patent are invalid.
The $486,400 verdict followed a four-day trial in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas and was entered on the court’s docket Monday.
