NHL Settles Trademark Suit With Stanley Cup Beer Stein Maker

The National Hockey League has settled a trademark infringement suit with a company that sold a Stanley Cup-shaped beer stein, according to a March 4 court filing.

The NHL sued The Hockey Cup LLC in July 2018 for trademark infringement, arguing that the mug infringed the NHL’s Stanley Cup trademarks. In addition to the allegedly infringing shape of the mug, the NHL said the stein comes in a black box that resembles the Stanley Cup’s sticker-covered carrying case, including stickers that infringe NHL team logos.
