NBA Tattoo Design Owner Dunks Effort to Preserve Copyright Suit

A copyright infringement lawsuit company claiming rights in tattoo designs worn by several professional basketball players survived an attempt to get a case thrown out.

The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York has rejected a motion by the makers of the NBA 2K video game series to brush off claims by Solid Oak Sketches LLC.

The case is an example of the increasingly common disputes between the makers of ever-more-realistic video games and intellectual property owners whose works or goods might appear in virtual form in a game.
