Monster Energy Loses Trademark Appeal at EU Court

Monster Energy Co. couldn’t convince the EU General Court Dec. 13 that a “Monster Dip” EU trademark would infringe its “Monster Energy” trademark.

Monster Dip sought trademarks in categories that didn’t overlap with those held by Monster Energy, the court said.

Monster Energy holds EU marks for non-alcoholic beverages, stickers and decals, and liquid nutritional supplements categories. The Monster Dip trademark application, on the other hand, sought marks in the categories of resurfacing materials, vehicle painting, and customized coating preparations.
