Microsoft, OpenAI, Github Face Copyright Suit Over Coding Tool

OpenAI, the upstart artificial intelligence company behind generative AI programs like DALL-E, is facing a copyright infringement lawsuit from two programmers who say its AI coding tool has been trained on their code without the proper licensing.

The program, known as Copilot, was created in collaboration with GitHub Inc. and Microsoft Corp., both also named as defendants in the complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
