Lions Gate’s Starz Fights Allegations It Infringes Video Patents

Lions Gate Entertainment’s Starz unit asked a federal judge to clear it of claims that it infringes four patents held by VideoLabs, an industry-sponsored platform for acquiring and holding valuable patents.

  • Starz is seeking declaration of non-infringement and invalidity of patents, according to complaint filed Wednesday in federal court in Wilmington, Delaware
  • VideoLabs owns two of the patents and its VL Collective IP unit owns the other two: complaint
