House Bill Calls for Study on Gender, Race Gap in Patenting

A new House bill proposes an investigation on the small number of patents going to female, minority and low-income inventors.

The bill, H.R 6390, would direct the Small Business Administration to conduct a six-month study on diversity gaps in U.S patenting activity and recommend how to close them. The agency would consult with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and other federal agencies to produce a report.
