Google’s Bid to Dodge East Texas Patent Case Fails

Google LLC will have to defend itself against a patent infringement lawsuit in an East Texas federal court.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit Oct. 29 rejected Google’s petition to transfer the case to a different venue. District Judge J. Rodney Gilstrap had kept the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas because Google had servers in the district, which qualified as “regular and established” places of business.
