Google Wins Backing for Its Bid to Move Patent Suit Out of Waco

Two technology industry lobbying groups and a prominent intellectual property professor want the Federal Circuit to rein in Judge Alan Albright’s efforts to make his Waco, Texas, court a magnet jurisdiction for patent infringement suits.

The Computer & Communications Industry Association, Engine Advocacy, and Stanford Law patent professor Mark Lemley filed an amicus brief in support of Google LLC‘s petition for mandamus in one such suit. Google wants the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit to rule that Albright improperly kept EcoFactor Inc.'s suit in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas.
