Alphabet Inc.’s Google will ask the U.S. Supreme Court to take up its appeal of Oracle America Inc.'s copyright infringement victory after a federal appeals court refused to revisit the case.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit Aug. 28 rejected Google’s request for a full court rehearing. A three-judge panel said in March that Google’s copying of portions of Oracle’s Java software to create the Android operating system wasn’t a fair use.
Oracle is seeking $8.8 billion in damages. A Google spokeswoman told Bloomberg Law in an email that the company will appeal to the high court. ...
