GM Saves ‘Super Cruise’ Trademark From Computer Company’s Attack

General Motors LLC thwarted a Federal Circuit appeal by a computer company trying to block registration of its “Super Cruise” trademark for its semi-autonomous driving system.

Micro Mobio Corp. failed to show GM’s mark would confuse consumers familiar with its own registered “SuperCruise” trademark for computer hardware and software, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit said. The marks are nearly identical but the goods sold are not, despite Micro Mobio’s arguments that consumers might think it partnered with GM, the court said.
