A Florida subsidiary of medical cannabis company Cansortium Inc. sued its former CEO in Miami federal court for allegedly violating a noncompetition agreement and infringing its trademarks by starting his own CBD company.
Cansortium’s Fluent owns 23 dispensaries in Florida. According to Cansortium’s Nov. 13 complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Fluent co-founder Jose Hidalgo agreed to become its CEO in October 2019.
The complaint says Fluent and Hidalgo’s agreement included a provision that he wouldn’t cultivate his own cannabis in Florida for 12 months after his employment with the company ended. Fluent told ...
