Fjallraven Sued for Alleged Misuse of Amazon IP Complaint System

Swedish outdoor equipment company Fjallraven has been misusing Amazon.com‘s intellectual property complaint system to remove competition from legitimate third-party sellers, a Dec. 23 complaint in Manhattan federal court says.

Amazon knows many of its infringement complaints “are falsely premised upon the notion that grey market goods may not be sold using intellectual property belonging to a remote manufacturer,” third-party seller WhoIsCamera says. “Nevertheless, Amazon acts upon such ill-conceived infringement complaints, thereby stifling Marketplace competition.”
