Federal Circuit Output on Pace With Past Years Despite Virus

The pandemic may have changed the way the Federal Circuit handles oral argument, but it doesn’t seem to have slowed the court’s patent opinion output.

The number of patent decisions the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has issued so far in 2020 looks similar to numbers from the last few years, according to an analysis by Jason Rantanen, a professor at the University of Iowa College of Law. He based his findings on the school’s Federal Circuit Decisions Database of information on rulings from the last 15 years.
