Ed Sheeran Wants No Jury in ‘Let’s Get It On’ Infringement Suit

Pop singer Ed Sheeran has asked a federal court to reconsider its decision to send to a jury his claims that his “Thinking Out Loud” song infringes the R&B classic “Let’s Get It On.”

Judge Louis Stanton should determine what elements of “Let’s Get It On” are protectable under the Copyright Act before moving on to the question of whether the song elements are similar, Sheeran argued in his Jan. 17 motion for reconsideration.
